Rispetto alle placide ninfee di Monet, la rivisitazione di Prevosto risulta più violenta e tormentata. L’opera è sinestetica: il dipinto non attira solo lo sguardo, ma è in grado di restituire e trasmettere allo spettatore gli inconfondibili suoni della grandine o della pioggia torrenziale che si infrange sullo stagno, come una mitragliatrice con proiettili d’acqua. È presente inoltre una connessione tra le "Ninfee sotto la grandine" e gli eventi catastrofici che imperversano nell’universo, dai meteoriti che colpiscono i corpi celesti fino alla contemporanea crisi climatica del nostro pianeta.

Compared to Monet's placid water lilies, Prevosto's reinterpretation is more violent and tormented. The work is synaesthetic: the painting not only attracts the gaze, but is able to return and transmit to the viewer the unmistakable sounds of hail or torrential rain crashing on the pond, like a machine gun with water bullets. There is also a connection between "Water Lilies under the hail" and the catastrophic events raging in the universe, from meteorites striking celestial bodies to the contemporary climate crisis on our planet.
