L’opera riprende le caratteristiche delle nature morte di Chaïm Soutine: gli iris viola poco definiti, realizzati con pennellate vorticose, tormentate e materiche libere, trasmettono un’idea di decadenza. L’inquadratura presenta il vaso tagliato e in parte distorto, mettendo al centro dello sguardo dello spettatore i fiori vibranti che lo contengono. La ricerca dell’artista, anche in quest’opera, è tesa a imprimere il senso della morte nei soggetti rappresentati. Diversamente dalle canoniche nature morte, che tendono a trasmettere meramente il senso del tempo che passa evocando la vanitas, quelle di Prevosto trascendono questo aspetto: per lui la morte non è il capitolo finale di un futuro indefinito, bensì risulta già inesorabilmente presente nel ciclo vita di ogni essere umano od oggetto inanimato.

The work picks up on the characteristics of Chaïm Soutine's still lifes: the ill-defined purple irises, painted with swirling, tormented and materially free brushstrokes, convey an idea of decadence. The framing presents the cut and partly distorted vase, placing the vibrant flowers that contain it at the centre of the viewer's gaze. The artist's research, also in this work, is aimed at imprinting the sense of death in the subjects represented. Unlike the canonical still lifes, which tend to merely convey the sense of time passing by evoking vanitas, Prevosto's works transcend this aspect: for him, death is not the final chapter of an indefinite future, but is already inexorably present in the life cycle of every human being or inanimate object.
