Testo di Luca Deias (ITA) Prevosto si ispira al “Bue macellato” di Rembrandt, offrendo allo stesso tempo la tensione drammatica e cromatica di Soutine. L’opera presenta un dualismo: le pennellate sono materiche e tormentante, in linea col senso di morte evocato dall’immagine del bue esanime, ma è anche presente la vitalità data dalle scelte cromatiche. Dunque, nel dipinto, vita e morte si abbracciano, legate in una inevitabile dicotomia che trascende il concetto di vanitas. |
Text by Luca Deias (ENG) Prevosto was inspired by Rembrandt's "Slaughtered Ox", offering at the same time the dramatic and chromatic tension of Soutine. The work presents a dualism: the brushstrokes are material and tormenting, in line with the sense of death evoked by the image of the lifeless ox, but the vitality provided by the chromatic choices is also present. Thus, in the painting, life and death embrace, linked in an inevitable dichotomy that transcends the concept of vanitas. |
