L’opera, ispirata alle nature morte fiamminghe del secolo d’oro, è proposta in quattro versioni (blu, rosso, giallo e bianco), perché l’artista ha voluto rappresentare gli stessi soggetti con colorazioni differenti, come se provenissero da universi paralleli. In questa versione bianca, il vaso sta risucchiando i fiori (rappresentati allungati, con una pennellata che rimanda al caos cosmico), trascinati all’interno di un’oscurità misteriosa: si tratta di un buco nero? O di un wormhole, ossia il ponte di Einstein-Rosen? La risposta è ignota all’artista e allo spettatore. Ecco l’orizzonte degli eventi evocato dal sottotitolo.

The work, inspired by the Flemish still lifes of the Golden Century, comes in four versions (blue, red, yellow and white), because the artist wanted to represent the same subjects with different colours, as if they came from parallel universes. In this white version, the vase is sucking up the flowers (depicted elongated, with a brushstroke reminiscent of cosmic chaos), dragged inside a mysterious darkness: is it a black hole? Or a wormhole, the Einstein-Rosen bridge? The answer is unknown to the artist and the viewer. This is the event horizon evoked by the subtitle.
