L’opera è descrittiva e offre un senso di inquietudine pur servendosi di una gamma colori più accesa, risultando meno “tragica” di quelle di Soutine a cui Prevosto si ispira. Da sottolineare l’uso del rosso pompeiano all’interno del vassoio, che contrasta col verde della conchiglia; la materia è vibrante, con pennellate cariche di colore nella costruzione del cammeo e delle conchiglie. Il tavolo, invece, non solo è appena accennato e poco definito, ma è presente anche una distorsione nella sua forma in una chiara evocazione morandiana.

The work is descriptive and offers a sense of disquiet while using a brighter colour palette, making it less ‘tragic’ than those of Soutine from which Prevosto draws inspiration. Of particular note is the use of Pompeian red inside the tray, which contrasts with the green of the shell; the material is vibrant, with brushstrokes laden with colour in the construction of the cameo and shells. The table, on the other hand, is not only barely hinted at and ill-defined, but there is also a distortion in its form in a clear Morandi evocation.
