Il dipinto dà forma e reinterpreta un ricordo dell’artista: invitato da bambino ad “ascoltare” il rumore del mare avvicinando le conchiglie all’orecchio, Prevosto dà vita artistica alla sua memoria. Le due conchiglie dell’opera a composizione triangolare, infatti, si parlano mediante il telefono, ascoltandosi a vicenda. Prevosto, così, in un’opera a tinte nostalgiche, fa rivivere sia le conchiglie, sia il telefono, che torna a consentire una comunicazione, questa volta per un dialogo tra due oggetti inconsueti. A livello artistico, il tavolo risulta curvo e deformato, in una chiara ispirazione a Soutine, mentre le pennellate sono materiche e cariche di colore.

The painting gives shape to and reinterprets a memory of the artist: invited as a child to "listen" to the sound of the sea by bringing the shells close to his ear, Prevosto gives artistic life to his memory. The two shells of the triangular composition work, in fact, speak to each other through the telephone, listening to each other. Thus, in a work with nostalgic overtones, Prevosto revives both the shells and the telephone, which once again enables communication, this time through a dialogue between two unusual objects. On an artistic level, the table is curved and deformed, in a clear inspiration to Soutine, while the brushstrokes are material and full of colour.
