“Nudo con burqa” è un'opera costruita sulla coesistenza di elementi volutamente inconciliabili. Una figura dal corpo femminile, dotata di attributi maschili, giace nuda mentre il volto rimane completamente celato dal burqa: una dicotomia che diviene il fulcro dell'intero dipinto. Prevosto non intende offrire risposte, bensì sollevare interrogativi sul rapporto tra integrazione, identità culturale e trasformazioni della società contemporanea. L'artista mette in dialogo simboli appartenenti a sistemi di valori differenti, evidenziando le possibili tensioni tra una società occidentale più orientata verso la libertà di genere e di autodeterminazione e tra culture che possono fondarsi su principi completamente diversi. L'opera si propone dunque come una provocazione intellettuale, pensata per stimolare il dibattito anziché orientarlo.
Anche il linguaggio pittorico partecipa a questa riflessione. La figura presenta le canoniche distorsioni di Prevosto, che assumono qui il valore allegorico di un mutamento continuo: la deformazione non riguarda soltanto il corpo, perché diventa metafora delle trasformazioni sociali, dei cambiamenti culturali e delle identità in costante ridefinizione. Sul piano cromatico emerge il forte contrasto tra il rosso dello sfondo e il verde petrolio del velo, un accostamento che richiama, nella chiave personale dell’artista, la celebre fotografia della “Ragazza afghana” di Steve McCurry, ribaltandone però gli equilibri tonali. Il risultato è un'immagine di forte impatto visivo che, attraverso il paradosso, invita lo spettatore a confrontarsi con questioni aperte del nostro presente.

“Nude with burqa” is a work built upon the coexistence of deliberately irreconcilable elements. A figure with a female body, endowed with male attributes, lies naked whilst her face remains completely concealed by the burqa: a dichotomy that becomes the focal point of the entire painting. Prevosto does not seek to provide answers, but rather to raise questions about the relationship between integration, cultural identity and the transformations of contemporary society. The artist brings symbols from different value systems into dialogue, highlighting the potential tensions between a Western society more oriented towards gender freedom and self-determination and cultures that may be founded on entirely different principles. The work thus presents itself as an intellectual provocation, designed to stimulate debate rather than steer it.
The pictorial language also contributes to this reflection. The figure displays Prevosto’s characteristic distortions, which here take on the allegorical significance of constant change: the deformation does not concern the body alone, but becomes a metaphor for social transformations, cultural shifts and identities in a state of constant redefinition. In terms of colour, there is a stark contrast between the red of the background and the petrol green of the veil – a juxtaposition which, in the artist’s own personal interpretation, evokes Steve McCurry’s famous photograph of the ‘Afghan Girl’, whilst reversing its tonal balance. The result is an image of powerful visual impact which, through paradox, invites the viewer to engage with unresolved issues of our present day.
