L’opera si sviluppa come la traduzione pittorica di un istante di terrore improvviso.
La figura, colta mentre volge lo sguardo verso un campo visivo esterno, appare sorpresa e attraversata da una scarica di adrenalina che ne altera i tratti: gli occhi sono indefiniti, la bocca tremante, il volto come scosso da un brivido interno. Prevosto costruisce l’immagine attraverso una gamma cromatica dominata da grigi e rossi, interrotta da vibrazioni di azzurro e bianco.
Le pennellate mosse e tremolanti offrono la sensazione di instabilità e gelo che accompagna lo spavento. Il contrasto tra il rosso e il blu, in particolare, evoca le reazioni fisiologiche del corpo: il calore improvviso del sangue che affluisce e il successivo freddo che contrae. L’azzurro sulla guancia e le variazioni cromatiche sul volto diventano in questo senso segni sensoriali.
Non è presente nell’opera la ricerca di una definizione anatomica, ma la volontà di fornire una percezione: il tremolio interno, il brivido lungo la schiena, la sensazione di essere colti di sorpresa da qualcosa di inatteso e destabilizzante.

The work unfolds as the pictorial translation of a moment of sudden terror.
The figure, caught as it turns its gaze towards an external field of vision, appears surprised and overcome by a rush of adrenaline that alters its features: the eyes are undefined, the mouth trembling, the face as if shaken by an internal shiver. Prevosto constructs the image through a colour palette dominated by greys and reds, interrupted by flashes of blue and white.
The loose, trembling brushstrokes convey the feeling of instability and coldness that accompanies fear. The contrast between red and blue, in particular, evokes the physiological reactions of the body: the sudden warmth of the blood rushing in and the subsequent cold that contracts it. The blue on the cheek and the chromatic variations on the face become sensory signs in this sense.
The work does not seek anatomical definition, but rather aims to convey a perception: the internal trembling, the shiver down the spine, the feeling of being taken by surprise by something unexpected and destabilising.
