Sulla scia di "Scemo di guerra in trincea", Prevosto realizza "Scemo di guerra in manicomio", ispirandosi in questa circostanza a un documentario che mostra sopravvissuti in contesti di cura psichiatrici.

L'artista, infatti, mira a rappresentare lo shell schock riferito ad un tipo di disturbo da stress post-traumatico riportato da molti soldati ed ufficiali durante la Prima guerra mondiale, raffigurando proprio un cosiddetto "scemo di guerra" in manicomio: la linea è vibrante, gli arti in più rappresentano il tremolio; dalla testa, invece, sgorgano pazzia e sgomento, con figure quasi floreali, liquide, che sembrano esplodere. Lo scuro dello sfondo, oltre a richiamare il buio del filmato da cui si è ispirato, contrasta con il soggetto chiaro in centro, che sembra emanare una luce di follia.

Questo lavoro completa quello dello "Scemo di guerra in trincea", rappresentando il destino degli antieroi dalla trincea fino al loro futuro lontano, solo fisicamente, dal fronte.

In the wake of "Scemo di guerra in trincea", Prevosto created "Scemo di guerra in manicomio" (Shell-shocked soldier in an asylum), inspired by a documentary showing survivors in psychiatric care environments.

The artist, in fact, aims to portray the shell shock caused by a post-traumatic stress disorder, experienced by many soldiers and officers during World War I. The line is vibrant, tremor is represented by the extra limbs; madness and dismay pour out of the head, with almost floral and liquid figures that seem to explode. The dark background not only recalls the darkness of the film from which it was inspired, but also contrasts with the light subject in the center, which seems to radiate a light of madness.

This work complements that of "Scemo di guerra in trincea", portraying the fate of the antiheroes from the trenches to their future far, only physically, from the war front.
