Testo di Luca Deias (ITA) Prevosto torna al presente, con l'ispirazione giunta dopo la visione di una fotografia – scattata durante un reportage della crisi russo-ucraina contemporanea - ritraente un peluche di un cavallo intriso di sangue e abbandonato. Prevosto costruisce una narrazione attorno a quell'oggetto e realizza "La bambina e il peluche". L'artista, nel suo processo creativo, ha immaginato una bambina colpita da un bombardamento missilistico, che, pervasa dalla paura, ha stretto nei suoi ultimi attimi di vita il suo pupazzo talmente forte da fondersi ad esso, divenendo così una figura indefinita, quasi mutante. Il peluche e la bambina, nell'opera, sono quindi diventati una cosa sola. È proprio questa creatura immaginaria il soggetto dell'opera, che presenta ibridazione di tecniche, con sovrapposizione di acquerello e olio su carta. Negli occhi viene proposta una sorta di censura riconducibile alle immagini mediatiche dei minori, con un effetto creato attraverso l'acquerello e il sale. Le escrescenze, invece, non sono organi, ma parti del peluche intrise di sangue. La scelta cromatica è disarmonica, impattante al punto da urtare lo spettatore. Ne "La bambina e il peluche", così come in altre opere de "I volti della guerra", l'umanità mostrata dall'artista è quindi mutante. Il messaggio è che la guerra imbruttisce e rende mostruoso il genere umano, trasformando l'esistenza di vittime e carnefici. |
Text by Luca Deias (ENG) Prevosto returns to the present, after taking inspiration from a photograph – taken during a reportage of the contemporary Russian-Ukrainian crisis – which captured a horse-shaped stuffed animal soaked in blood and abandoned. Prevosto builds a narrative around that object and creates "La bambina e il peluche" (Little girl with her stuffed animal). The artist imagined a frightened little girl hit by a missile bombing, who held her stuffed animal so tightly that she blended with it, becoming an undefined, almost mutant figure. The toy and the little girl, in this artwork, became one. This imaginary creature is the subject of this work, which features a combination of techniques, with overlays of watercolor and oil on paper. In the eyes a kind of censorship which seems the one used in media images of minors, with an effect created through watercolor and salt. The growths, on the other hand, are not organs, but parts of the stuffed animal full of blood. The color choice is disharmonious, impactful, and shocks the observer. In "La bambina e il peluche", as in other artworks of the series, the humanity portrayed by the artist is mutant. The message conveyed by Prevosto is that war makes mankind ugly and monstrous, transforming the existence of victims and perpetrators. |
