Testo di Luca Deias (ITA) In questa opera, in cui è chiara l’influenza di Cy Twombly, l’artista fa uso della carta millimetrata: per Prevosto risulta molto ingabbiante, precisa, quasi una prigione mentale che le persone si costruiscono persino nelle azioni quotidiane. Usa questo medium non come semplice sfondo incollato – volutamente in modo non preciso - sulla carta cotone, ma lo rende artisticamente attivo: in questo dipinto – ispirato a un personaggio in una puntata di una serie televisiva dei primi anni del 2000, Scrubs - sono visibili forme batteriche (vere e immaginarie) nel corpo e sono proposte mani che cercano di lavarsi in una schiuma marrone, riflettendo il disturbo di una persona che si sente assalita dal senso di sporco senza riuscire a liberarsene. |
Text by Luca Deias (ENG) In this artwork, in which the influence of Cy Twombly is evident, Prevosto makes use of graph paper: according to the artist it is precise, very caging, and it represents almost a mental prison that people build for themselves even in everyday actions. He uses this medium not as a simple background, pasted – intentionally inaccurately – on cotton paper, but makes it artistically active: in this painting – inspired by a character in an episode of an early 2000s television series, Scrubs – bacterial forms (real and imaginary) are visible in the body. Here the artist represents hands that are trying to wash in a brown foam, reflecting the disorder of a person who feels attacked by a sense of dirt without being able to get rid of it. |
